Round up II

E mail from IM Bright to ARMSASCI:
I am very thankful for your guidance with regard to the course at ASCI. Are there no faults in the course at all? Is everything so hunky dory? Why in that case was the course , having a capacity of 25 be attended by only a handful of officers? Are you hiding something from me? Are you paid by ASCI to advertise this course? Like Arjuna before proceeding to wage the Kurukshetra war I also have a lot of questions. I am confused . Please guide me....
E mail from ARMSASCI
I understand your confusion . Let us talk...
Google Chat Room:
AA: Let us first complete the syllabus and then we will come to the juicy bits and scandals .
IM : Oh I do love gossiping....
AA: Like I said we had lessons in Strategic Management by Profs Arindam Das and Prof Mahapatra. Both have joined ASCI and are brimming with knowledge and the urge to offload it on students willing to learn. Prior to that we had classes on organisation behaviour . Again there were good instructors in form of Dr Vishwanath who can read the soul of a bird sitting on a tree by just the way it flaps its wings. Prof Dimple who is very fiesty and prod Subhashini who is stable and solid in her in her subject . One good subject we learnt was communication. This was taught by prof Swarnalata. Her method of instruction was very informal and nice . She is good at a subject called negotiations . All in all a good instructor.Classes on Entrepreneurship were conducted by Prof Mrs Anand. Who was extremely articulate knowledgeable and expressive. We had one class on environment by a very good Prof ..... who was very passionate about the environment and how the laws are being subverted all over the country by uncaring builders. One class on managerial computing by a lady Nirmala apsingikar who was fantastic. We also had classes on hospital management - they have a dedicated long course for two years running for young hopefuls hence there was no dearth of instructors... And then there was this prof Reshmi Nair who taught us about land acquisition and government laws therein. This was our last class. I may have missed out one or two classes I will tell you more when I do remember them....
IM: And now you promised a critique on the entire course...
AA: Yes I will. I am going to tackle it point wise for easy understanding...
1.    Instructors: The instructors are very good and have a lot of experience and a dedicated lot.
2.    Administration : Good. The food is good and surprisingly palatable. The first time you enter the dining hall , you feel that there is so much food and will it be consumed in a single meal? People eat hell of a lot and it was consumed .
3.    Accomodation: This was one place where they were sadly lacking and might hit their bottom line . I think they should offer the rooms to officers - either on similar rates as prevailing in IIMs or charge about Rs 7500/- exclusively for the room.
4.    Wastage. There was plenty of wastage as far as paper and stationary were concerned. In this aspect ASCI is sadly lacking.
5.    Conduct of the Course:  Unlike other courses being conducted ad hocism works with us only to a certain extent. Like I was mentioning earlier schedule of the course was not known. Distribution of classes was not known till given by instructors themselves. Co- ordination in this aspect I felt was sadly lacking. Daily programme was streamlined to a certain extent only after sometime then there was marginal deterioration towards the end of the course.
6.    Visits: In spite of the fact that visits to various places would be conducted this petered out somewhere along the mid course. We visited only two places of any interest at all in the end.
7.    Interactions:There were really no interactions worth talking about. If this did happen then it was incidental and had been planned for some other course and as an afterthought we were dovetailed into the same.
8.     Working/ Observing Civil Companies: This could have been programmed for a week. Asci has immense amount of goodwill in the civil organisations which could have been utilised towards this end.
9.    Placement: While this was said to be part of the programme it has not really worked out till date - and we are in the last day of the course . This is one issue which the ASCI should have put in a bit more of effort or rather planned effort which was lacking .
10.    Tackling Service Officers : We got on famously well with the staff and the lecturers alike . However we could have been better off had they spoken to us and asked us what we expected.

So I think I have more or less covered everything on the course . Some suggestions may be in order but again it is going to waste your time since I don't want to dampen your entire enthusiasm for the course . Suffice it to say that it (ASCI) is one of the premier or the premier institution of the country where you can learn a lot from the dedicated and excellent instructors . All the best .Any further queries may please be addressed to me. Oh by the way one suggestion which I would like to give is conducting a part of the course in Delhi campus .

Round Up I

Email from Col IM Bright to ARMASCI:
I like the name ARMSASCI. It is brief ,pithy, eye catching and self explanatory. Since I am due for retirement in 2017 January, I intend doing this course from ASCI. Can you give me an insiight into the course? It would be extremely helpful in evaluating my chances of getting a job after this course. Your kind help will be very useful.
Reply from ARMSASCI:
We are in receipt of your missive. We would strongly recommend that you read our blog bellavistans.blogspot.in this gives you the complete picture of the course. However your request is noted and since you are serious about the course we would like to add a few things which would be of assistance. However it would be more fruitful if you come into the chat room aftr you have read the blog so that we can tackle specific issues as you deem fit to address to us which we can tackl in a more meaningful and logical manner.

A few days later on google chat....
IM : I read the blog . The blog more or less covers it all . But I am puzzled. If everything is as good as portrayed then all is good . I feel that some things have been left unsaid...
AA (ARMSASCI): You are right and wrong. Right in the sense that some things have been left unsaid and wrong in the sense that all has been said..
IM : Okay let me start at the beginning. You were detailed for the course ,you paid up - how was the reception?
AA: Mostly all of us were from the local area and so we were staying home. The problem arose for those who were not locals. You are aware that messes do not have the capacity to spare a room for outsiders for more than 10 days at the max there was no provision for accommodation at ASCI. At the IIMs they provide accommodation for the entire duration of six months.
IM: Did you receive a detailed programme for the course durtion?
AA: No we did not receive a complete programme. In fact it was made available to us in part at the opening lecture. And even then the schedule was not available.
IM: What do you mean?
AA: Well the weekly pgme as to which class would be conducted when was not given. Most of the time we were made aware which class was on only after we reached the class. A structured programme was not made available. Finally on our insistence we were given the programme three days prior to the next week.
IM: May i request you to take me through the course - subjectwise and daily routine wise?
AA: Let me see . The first day we all gathered in the conference room no 1> Lot of lectures and we were made to feel at home. I do not think the ASCI people realised that they would be having us for six months. Post lunch we had ASCI Darshan and broke off for the day. From the next day the classes started at 0900H. Each class was for one and a half hours -
IM : One and a half hours!
AA : Our reaction exactly. We said that the classes have to be of forty minutes each with five min break in between. Of course the instructors were very accommodating in this respect. As the time passed by our stamina built up and we did not interrupt the instructors during the class for a break.
IM: What all did they teach you?
AA: They taught us the following subjects. Macro and Micro economics - We had really good instructors in Profs Paramita Das (She is a superb instructor who brought all her experience into play in explaining economics to us and more important she was very patient with us) Ashita Allamraju (who was always smiling while clarifying our most basic doubts) and Sutanuka who had a brain like a steel trap. Finance by Prof Mubeen Rafat ( An excellent teacher who helped us overcome the fear of finances. I can proudly say that we can look a balance sheet and a financial statement in the eye without fear and ignorance) Prof Mahadik supplemented her teaching and he was ever present to solve all our other problems, Marketing taught by Prof Shahaida. Initially she was wary of us and we were of her but over a period of time we got along really well with her thanks to her excellent quality of teaching us. The we had Prof Malini Reddy. Her method of instruction was more informal although she did get us to do what she set out to achieve by making us work at various case studies and one or two field trips. Then we had classes on project management with prof Vilas Shah. Again an excellent instructor with an equable temperament. He ground us till we understood what he had to say in the class. We also had Prof Sachendra who taught us project Management in continuation along with logistic Management and supply chain Management. His method of instruction was patient and good. We had classes on operations management by prof Sachendra and business research methods by Prof Raj Kiran Bilolikar ( an extremely knowledgeable instructor whose specialty was in the power sector).
IM: Wait a minute - are you telling me that all the instructors were good?
AA: Yes that is what I am saying - only thing is sometimes thay had a difficulty in adjusting to our basic learning capability.
IM: Is that all or were there more subjects?
AA: There are plenty more. Only it is late now I will continue tomorrow.
IM : Yes but -
AA: No more buts now Your buts are becoming a pain we will continue tomorrow....

Century

14 Nov

Is it really a century of blogs? I checked and rechecked. No - there was no doubt in the figure. It is the round figure of 100 blogs. It is a milestone for the ARMSASCI course and for me. It seems only yesterday that Profs Bagchi and Mahadik walked into the class and said that it would be a good idea to maintain a blog about the goings on in the class. For reasons not known to me I volunteered. Me volunteer? I was taken aback at my presumptuousness. And I will tell you why. In the Army we are taught right from the beginning , never to volunteer. Volunteering means hard work. It also means that - in case things go wrong then there is someone to blame. A Fall Guy. And hence never volunteer.

The only other time I volunteered was when I joined the Parachute Regiment. Of course I loved the Idea of belonging to an elite regiment. So much so that during the break time in Indian Military Academy - when all cadets went home for their holidays - I decided to go Paratrooping. The entire holiday was written off... When I did volunteer for the Paras my course mates looked at me pityingly and said that I was mad . They were of course comforted by the fact that since I was going to Agra , the 'Agra Pagalkhana' had a ready candidate in me. Things worked out well for me and I though I stayed on in Agra , it was not me who went to the mental asylum , but a lot of others who could not stomach the ways of this crazy world.

In a moment of candor Prof Mahadik , during the tea time at ASCI revealed to us that sweepstakes were on among the staff. Prof Mahadik was the Bookie and they were offering offering stakes of 2 to 1 in favour of the blog continuing through the course. There were not many takers - in fact people were betting 5 is to 1 against the blog continuing after the initial few days. The ARMSASCI course blog was odds on favorite on losing steam. As the days progressed the odds slowly but surely started favoring the blog continuing. In fact all those who bet against - I am happy to say lost out heavily. It was not long before we started seeing gloomy faces of those who bet against us. One thing I have to say for the teaching staff of ASCI - in spite of this financial setback it did not put a crimp on the excellent teaching capabilities . If anything, it in fact improved their method of instruction. Soon the entire staff was rooting for the blog to be a success. We thank everyone of the for their unstinted encouragement in making this blog a real success.

There was no dearth of topics to write about. The daily classes, the method of instruction, the subjects being taught. an unguarded remark by any of the instructors, the far and few visits, visiting faculty, guest lecturers. daily routine and many other things which kept happening in ASCI. For reasons of propriety , many things were also left unsaid like the time when... Or when... or I remember that time when...etc etc etc Also there was this time when the ..... and so on...
Not to talk about the time when we were part of other courses when there was need for joint instruction. We met some bright sparks from the civil stream like Kirti Shettigar and Mayur who were working for the same bank or another course which consisted of government secrataries of different designations. The visits to the meto and to the other companies are also documented among these blogs.

And then there were guest bloggers - notable among them were Prof Mahadik Prof Sachendra and others. Somehow We were not able to rope in Prof Bagchi to contribute to the blog . This here is a warning to Prof Bagchi to think up of something to write- there is yet one week of the course left and we are sure that with his experience he will contribute something soon - otherwise there are always the ghostwriters who can make this happen... Some other highlights were the interview of the foreign student from the Fiji Islands- that day the readership really shot up...

In the end I have to definitely thank my course mates Sandhya , Himanshu, Prasad , Perumal, GJ Rao who encouraged by his frequent comments and his being a subject of many a blog.Pv Sivaram who also helped with his comments while at the time achieving many a landmark in his passion for cycling, Jagpal for his witty one liners which helped in providing for the start of most of the blogs and Banerjee for his astute and to the point remarks which helped in improving the blogs.
Just because we have completed a 100 blogs it does not mean that this column will stop . There is still a week left in the course and why stop it even after the course is complete? The scope will widen and in a way it will be a means to keep in contact when we go our separate ways . Thank you all....

Movie Mania

Sangeet
skyline12 Nov

The other day I was travelling through Secunderabad. In passing my eyes rested on the sign board of Manju Theatre. I slowed down my vehicle and ultimately came to a stop. That road - Sarojini Devi Road brought back lot of memories. Back then I was a movie buff. Be it Hindi Telugu or English movies we used to be the first in the line - preferably the evening or the matinee show. Beyond that the 2nd show used to invite the wrath of both the parents alike. I think the first movie that was released in Manju was Shaan. Kulbhushan Kharbanda was portrayed as the new 'Amjad Khan ' on the horizon. It was predicted that He would become as big as amjad , after sholay.. It did not work for him. Shakaal proved to be a dud. While I was looking at th dilapidated state the theater was in , a great sadness overtook me . Another day and another time movie halls were the in thing > We always used to try and see the movies as early as possible so that we could spoil the fun for others , by relating the story first . Not the newspapers for us . We had become experts at making our own review. While I was thinking about the old times my mind wandered all over Hyderabad. At one point of time Hyderabad boasted of more than 105 cinema halls. At that time the cinema  ticket was only 75 Paisa. And we used to sit up close  to the screen. We could hope to look up the scanty clothes of the heroines. A good song like "Khayke Paan Banaras wala" and we would be dancing in the aisles. And also in the space between the screen and seats. Dances by Helen or Jyothilakshmi or Jayamalini and we used to hurl change of 10 paisa and five paisa on to the screen.

Ramakrishna 70mm (Abids)
Ramakrishna 70mm
At one point of time this turned out embarrassing as some of my brother's friends saw  me and reported back home. This friend of my brother and me are still not on talking terms after all these years. Slowly it was all coming back. In 1975 when Sholay was released I was detailed by the family to purchase tickets for the movie in Shaam Theatre. Shaam was at Lakdi - ka - pul and since the movie was a hit we had to buy the tickets in black. There were about 20 family members and I would like to think that with the money the black marketeer made , he started an alternative and a more respectable profession.. We also saw Bobby in Shaam theater . It was one of the movies that my father was persuaded to watch. The movie so riled his senses that he left the movie half way. Next to Shaam was regal theater . Once in a while when the movie we wanted to watch at Shaam was houseful, we used to go to regal and watch some old hindi movie or some telugu movie. One of my favourite theaters was Ramakrishna 70mm and 35 mm. At that time only  pictures were screened at Ramakrishna 70mm. I remember watching Guns of Navarone, Operation Day Break etc . But by far our favourite actor was Charles Bronson. Some of his best movies which we were fortunate to see were Death wish series  , The Magnificent seven , The great escape, Breakout etc  . We also used to love watching Westerns those days mostly at Liberty, Plaza, Tivoli , lighthouse and palace at abids.

But two theaters which were we looked forward to go to were Nataraj and Sangeet. Both the movie hall had style and we would go there - to ogle at girls in their sunday best - as well as watch movies. I saw tomorrow never comes at Sangeet as also most of the James Bond Series. Then inlater days when the minimum ticket became Rs 2.30 , Theaters started becoming more opulent. Among them were Royal theater at Sultan Bazaar. It was love at first sight with this really royal theater. The first movie released there was 'Chhupa Rustam" - a Dev Anand movie. We enjoyed the opulence of the theater as well as the movie. Other theaters which were good were Dilshad - next to Royal (Saw Be naam there) . At Mozum jahi Market there were Navrang, Ashok and Vikrant. Near the GPO there was Zammarrud (Khoobsurat) Rahat Mahal at Mushirabad, Minerva On SD Road Where the minerva complex now stands, Prabhat at Kachiguda, Shanti at Narayanguda, Skyline and Sterling at Himayatnagar(Towering Inferno) Venkatesa (Telugu Movies) We used to get passes as the theater belonged to my mother's friend Srinvasa where I saw some of the most memorable movies of my life ( 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Enter The Dragon', Poseidon adventure  Crazy Boys etc)

Anand
Anand
Most of the theaters are now gone ,,, The Pirated Videos and Cds and the cable television saw to that... They are either Marriage Halls or warehouses or some theater have been razed to ground to make way for housing complexes /Shopping Malls, road widening or are simply in a horrible state of disrepair.... A movie for two now means spending at least a thousand Rupees. People go out in the interval eat properly and dispose the waste in dustbins no more of the hawkers clinking soft drink Bottles in the hall or another hawker hissing chipsss in the hall. Movie watching is no longer fun - it is an imposition.... It is more than 10 years since I have seen a movie in a theater...

The Locked Door

Deepavali spirit was in the air. Captain Rajan (Merchant Navy) was home after a long and gruelling trip on the oil Tanker that he commanded. He was looking forwaard to meeting his relatives after a long time. He did not have any children. While the fact that a sailor had a woman in every port was true in case of most of his peers and friends, he eschewed from all such tomfoolery. Moreover since he did not have any children, his wife accompanied him on almost all his trips at sea. Surprisingly they did not get tired of each other in spite of constantly being in each other's company. Of course whenever he lost an argument he would stay away from his cabin and spend his time on the bridge. Training young officers gave him a lot of pleasure. Some of the mistakes that they committed were totally unimaginable and he would break out in cold sweat when he thought about the consequences . there was learnng for him too . Moreover it kept him on the top of his game. His last run was from UAE to netherlands to deliver crude oil. Calm seas helped and he was able to complete the delivery in record time.
And hence his presence in Hyderabad to meet his mother and relatives . It had been a long time at sea. And because he did not know what to do on land he had taken long and extended tenures at sea. The last time he was home things did not go exactly as per plan. His support to a young nephew who wanted to break out on his own did not go down well. As it is the fact that his wife was a foreigner did really help. He was determined to make amends. And what better way than giving them an expensive present for deepawali. It was with this in mind that on a Saturday evening he took his wife and mother to the city central Mall. The journey itself was quite tiring due to the heat and dust . The dense traffic did not help. Over the past few years the traffic was increasing day by day and as a result the pollution was rising exponentially. At the mall it was hell. To start with Parking was a huge problem. And then the crowd was heavy. More than the shoppers the holiday revelers were in great numbers. Their trying to bargain for things they would not buy did not improve the mood of the shopkeepers. Finally after a lot of jostling and pushing around the shopping was  completed. Rajan's thoughts turned homeward. Not the food for him from the hotels. He was looking forward to getting home and having a drink. he could almost hear the hiss of a soda bottle opening and the the clink of ice cubes in the glass as he swirled his drink.
And then started the nightmare. They reached home in good time. The drink beckoned him. He waited impatiently as his wife rummaged her bag for the keys. "Why can't women keep their purse organised?" he thought impatiently. After a reasonable amount of time he asked his wife with an edge to his voice " What is the matter? Lost the keys? Why are you not opening the door?" His wife looked at him sheepishly. " I think I lost the keys" She said; The thought of a drink receded from his mind. Desperately he searched his pockets in the hope that by some mischance he had the keys in his pocket. But unlike other times when he normally found what he was searching in his last pocket,he was not so lucky today. Even the last pocket did not yield anything . His mother in her sanctimonious voice said "I told you - be careful with the keys" . An Impasse had been reached . They looked at each other helplessly. The door had just been changed for an expensive and ornate one. Security system was in place and the door had a triple bolt lock. There was nothing they could do without taking the extreme measure of either breaking down the door or trying to climb through the window which was not possible without injury or possible loss of life.  The only thing to do was to wake up the neighbors.
He cursed the day he decided to go for shopping without adequate safeguards. He longed for the comfort of his bed and a drink in his hand. finally the neighbor was roused from his sleep. Of course the first suggestion was to break down the door. This was rejected outright. Rajan attributed this extreme suggestion to the neighbor's disturbance. Then the lock was examined and finally some keys were brought which the neighbor felt would do the job. It did not work. After a lot of huffing and puffing the project was all but shelved. There was no other option but to wake up the other flat owner. By now tempers were running high. Recriminations sprang to Rajan's lips. He all but blamed his wife for her stupidity and irresponsibility. Voices were being raised and a fight was very much a possibility. Luckily the other neighbor had had a similar experience and since then he had the number of a locksmith on his mobile. The locksmith finally came after being promised a fortune. Finally the door was opened. Rajan looked forward to his relaxing in his bed and having that drink he promised himself. But - there is always a but - just as he entered his home the power went off .....

Paper Boats

04 Nov
At the end of the Class
It was with a pang that we realised that the course at ASCI was really meandering towards an end. All good things come to an end. Today we were in class with Prof Sachendra. The agenda of the day was boats - Paper Boats. Not the Advertisement of the juices that they are showing on the Television nowadays but actual paper boats that we as children, used to put on streams of rain water as kids. The idea was that with a single window for provision of raw material and purchase of  the finished product, we had to produce as many boats as possible in the given time to make a profit. as an entrepreneur we were the ones who estimated our capability, made the boats, carried out quality control, and sold the boats. Based on our estimate and the the final production we made profit or lost heavily depending whether we were able to fulfill our obligations as far as the final estimation went or lost heavily if we fell below the estimate.

There were lessons to be learnt . These were brought home rather forcefully by Prof Sachindra. He spared no pains in telling us that we fell woefully short , where thinking out of the box was concerned. He did warn us that there were many things left unsaid which we had to deduce to ensure maximum profits. While one of us did get the title of entrepreneur of the day, all others fell short of the given targets and incurred heavy losses. The reason for this was - he expounded - we did nt think out of the box. we could have formed Joint ventures and probably doubled or tripled our production and hence improved our profits exponentially. at no point of time - he thundered  - did I tell you not to form conglomerates , co-operatives or joint ventures"; Your ability to do so was clouded by your need to meet your estimations little thinking that any such link up would help you in the long run....

When we  thought about it we realised that what he said was right. Cut throat competition and fresh minds in the civil world were going to kill our entrepreneurship unless we adapted to newer and different ways of thinking... I think that was the most important lesson we learnt today.
Our classes  with Prof Sachendra started on a high and ended today on a high note.

Right from his first class on 07 august we were hooked to his way of teaching. And then there was a lull in proceedings. We re-started our classes with Prof Sachindra somewhere around the end of september. The most important thing about the classes was that in addition to our learning new things it also forced us to think about the improvements and different methods of doing things.. And now finally the classes have concluded. We are indeed thankful to prof Sachendra for teaching us.
At the end of the class today the parting was rather emotional . I suppose that there were other factors in addition to his teaching which made the classes enjoyable like - free exchange of Ideas, discussion of things happening in the country and relating it to our subject and the thing we remembered most was the  stories which Prof Sachendra told us to make a point under discussion clear to us . We learnt and he taught.... But unlike paper boats we hope that our interactions continue long beyond the course...
He Goes Home
And Like Prof Sachendra says "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna....."

Back to The Future VII -The One That Flew Away

20 Jul 2016

The course was in full strength at the Airport - except for Sandhya - her husband was posted to some place where there was no immediate access to any thing. The occasion was tha Himanshu was going to USA. This time his friends felt instinctively that he was going for good. The visits to India would be far and few - if any. And who knew which way the coin would tumble? So it was best to say farewell while it was still feasible.
Himanshu was going suitably equipped , of course ,with a course at ASCI, Project Mangement Course from USA and an Engineering degree and associated special studies thereafter. Garlanded . hugged and a few photographs later he was on his way. He was looking forward to this move - it was evident. Finally after years of separation from his wife he would be joining her permanently. Speaking over skype , corresponding through emails and whispered endearments over the phone were at an end - and none too sooner....

Himanshu - 2020
I have finally settled into a routine life in the USA. It is now four years since I have left India. I have managed to get a good job. After initial hiccups ( like gears of a new car being run in - in the good old days) me and my wife settled down to a wonderful life. My job was really well paying and we were staying in one of the better places in New York. BUT -  but that lingering dissatisfaction was always there. I wanted to do something more - more than just a well paid job - I wanted to achieve something. I have always Idolised Elon Musk. His unhappy childhood and his Move to Canada and thereafter his becoming CEO of Tesla really impressed me. What really was his pioneering venture into space with the Dragon. It was my desire to be a part of that project. Towards that end I applied for a job and it was probably my military background enhanced by my technical know how that helped me land a job on the Dragon Project. Soon Neelima  also joined me on this project. I have finally arrived... Doing what I wanted and getting paid for it too.

2026

Reports about Himanshu's doings were constantly updated with me. We corresponded regularly. The Dragon Project was going great guns. One test flight and an extended stay on Mars had already been achieved. One thing that was bothering most of Himanshu's well wishers was  the lack of constant news... Anyway let Himanshu continue...

Himanshu 2028

The news was exciting. More exciting than when our first child was born. Giant strides had been taken in the habitation of Mars. Ever since the discovery of water on Mars and the subsequent discovery that it snowed on Mars , in 2015 there has been an undercurrent of expectation all over Earth. It was just a matter of time before th first commercial flight was launcheed. And of course 'Project Dragon was in the forefront of the entire exercise. Elon Musk was one of the first civillians to travel to Mars. By the way of not being too immodest I was in the forefront of improving the design of the Dragon so that it withstood the rigours of travel . My contribution was to make a space suit that was light weight and had the property of self cleansing.Of course this brought me in contact with elon Musk and soon we were on first name terms. My dream of making a trip to mars soon seemed to be crystallising and becoming a reality...

2029

It was already 14 years since Himanshu left for USA. We have not met in the interim. If he did come to India, it was only to visit his family . We were all busy in our own jobs. Jaggu's son was still doing very well on the world moto gp. Sivaram's Wards won Bronze Medal in road cycling, GJ Rao finally realised his dream of saving troubled lives all over the country. His Model of Suicide prevention was finally accepted all over the country. His financial position already good improved vastly with the entrepreneurial  initiatives taken by his son . He is now into charity and helping the underprivileged to realise their dreams of good education. Banerjee has retired from all types of business/ work . Nowadays he travels all over the world along with his charming wife. Sandhya is doing very well. Her son is growing by leaps and bounds. He is very naughty. Yarlagadda has business of transport all over the state. It goes by the name YARLAGADDA TRANSPORT. Perumal's Back to the Basics has made him the champion of poor in Tamil Nadu.

2030

The news paper headline caught my attention immediately caught my attention. INDIAN COUPLE AMONG FIRST SETTLERS ON MARS. Hoping against hope I read the article in full and my hopes were realised

" American Entrepreneur and business tycoon Elon Musk has decided to be one of the first to send        people to the moon. He said that "time has come to decongest earth. Recent advances in the                exploration of the Mars has shown that it is possible to sustain life there . Over the past few years        My company has been in the forefront of doing pioneering work on Mars. A lot of work has still        to be done . I have selected my good friend Himanshu and his wife Neelima to lead this mission          to Mars. They are more than qualified for this task.....

I did not read beyond this - It was with happiness and pleasure that we (the ARMSASCI course) wish him all the best. May he do well...
